Eric Joins The Few, The Proud, The Marines

Smirking (?) during one of the many "hurry up and wait" sessions.
The actual swearing in.
Posed swearing in for pictures.

Eric left at noon the go to the Indy airport. He was to report in to the USO so they can make sure he gets on his plane. He does not leave until late afternoon- somewhere between 4-8 pm. The idea is to get them to the recruit depot in San Diego really late or very early. They will be up for 36 hours before they are allowed to sleep. During this time, they are allowed to call home to let us know he arrived safely-period. The next 3 days are spent getting the hair shaved, eyes and teeth examined, clothing and toiletries, opening a base bank account, and undergoing some training and tests to make sure they can complete boot camp. Eric will also get a pair of black frame unbreakable plastic lens glasses-they call them BC glasses for birth control because no one looks attractive in them. No contacts in boot camp. On Friday, he will be put in a platoon and meet his DI for the first time. From then on, we can only guess. In 10-14 days, we will receive a post card with his address.

engagement pictures!

We finally have our engagement photos! Here are a few appetizers for you! P.S. Be on the look-out for the save-the-dates! DECEMBER 19th. We are trying to get them out by June 1!

This first one is just of me, but I had to throw it in there because I like it! I can't get enough of those flowers in the background!

This is John and me on campus. It was a beautiful day! We were supposed to have rain, but it ended up working in our favor! Apparently there was a huge celebration downtown so we had some good, live music to listen to while posing for the camera!

Here we are in front of the student building... the flowers are gorgeous!

This is some random person's yard in Bloomington. She had really nice tulips.

This is a series of pictures Eric took of John tickling me. Eric put them all together and I thought it was pretty cute.

Some Reasons this was a Special Birthday

Surprise flowers

White Chocolate Raspberry Layer Cake (made by Carol who
remembered how much I liked it ten years ago!)

Chocolate Berry Ribbon Dessert
Hmmm...two of my reasons involve sweets...I wonder what that says about me
