A Home Restored

Laura has been successfully moved to Chicago. It was a complete screw up but ended ok. After she went to pick up keys, etc., a handyman was to meet her and change the locks, etc. He was under the impression that she was in a different apartment, so we had to wait until he called the office and got everything straightened out-which was not a simple task. They had to go all the way back and check in the computer because everything they had said the wrong apartment number. After we entered, we discovered that due to the wrong apt number, her apartment had not even been cleaned! We started calling to get someone in to take care of this. We were told she would be there in a couple of hours (would have been around 2), but no one showed up. We called again and told she had been delayed and would be there by 5. Again, no one showed up. At 6:30, we had a very long conversation with the management and they ended up calling her and telling her to call us and gave us her phone number. She calls and says she will be there at 8 pm. Once again, no one shows up. Not knowing we had her phone number, we called her and she said she was on the way. When no one showed up by 9:30pm, we left a message with the management office about our ordeal and went back to the hotel. Sunday am, we called the rental office and spoke with the lady who had rented to apt to Laura. She called the cleaning lady once again and said she would be there in 15 minutes. Being the kind and generous people we are, we waited until 45 minutes had passed and, while on the phone with the office, Lo and Behold!!!, she shows up (1:00pm). I was afraid to leave her alone fearing she would do a half-a**ed job, but at Laura's insistence, we left. When we returned, things were much, much better. She did forget to clean the outside of the cabinets (they were sticky), but Laura was satisfied and began to make it her own. If I can figure out how to add pictures, I will add them to the blog.
